The American Research Center in Bulgaria, Inc. (ARCB) is a U.S. non-profit, 501(c)3 organization that supports research and academic cooperation between scholars from North America and Southeast Europe, including projects and activities conducted at its overseas partner institution, the American Research Center in Sofia (ARCS). ARCS, operating in Sofia since 2005, provides North American and Western and Eastern European scholars (postdoctoral and graduate students) with a base in Bulgaria for academic research in the humanities and social sciences. It is also dedicated to promoting collaboration between scholars from North America, Western Europe and Southeast Europe. Furthermore, ARCS has gained considerable experience in developing grant programs that facilitate the preservation, enhancement and sustainability of local museums and cultural heritage.

Of particular interest for ARCB and ARCS is preservation of historical memory and research on the totalitarian regimes in the history of Bulgaria and neighboring countries, with a focus on collecting archives, documents and personal testimonials; and research on the history of Bulgarian-American relations and the Bulgarian еmigration to the USA (see www.immigrant.bg).
